Lamborghini Goes Fully Electric

Lamborghini, the Italian sports car manufacturer, has announced a roadmap for its shift towards electric cars. The company plans to invest €1.4 billion over the next four years to achieve this goal. Recently, the company unveiled its first fully electric car, the Terzo Millennio. This car’s engine will be powered by electricity, providing a unique riding experience while positively impacting the environment.

Lamborghini announced its plan to produce its first fully electric car by the end of 2024.
The company’s initial focus will be on combustion engine models, with two new cars set to join the V12 model range. The second phase of Lamborghini’s plan will involve transitioning to hybrid vehicles and launching its first hybrid car in 2023. The move aligns with Lamborghini’s vision of maintaining brand continuity and focusing on energy conservation and the environment.

Ultimately, the company aims to electrify its range fully. The company plans to invest $1.8 billion in its new supercars fleet, the most significant investment in its history – all to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 50% by the beginning of 2025.

Lamborghini is gearing up for the commercial production of its first-ever fully electric sports car, breaking away from the current trend of SUVs (sport utility vehicles) in the industry. The car’s design is expected to be distinct and appealing, similar to the iconic Lamborghini Aventador and Gallardo, known for their high performance and aesthetics.

The electric car is set to hit the market in 2028. These electric cars will be available for purchase no later than 2035, while the company may continue to produce sports cars that use combustion engines. 

Environment is priority

The CEO believes the transition is essential to keep up with the changing times and reduce the environmental impact of cars through practical projects. The company’s CEO said that the fourth model will fill a blind spot in the company’s current lineup and that they need a sports car, which is a good addition to two super sports cars and an SUV.

Lamborghini seeks to remove carbon emissions from its models. By the beginning of 2025, Lamborghini aims to decrease carbon dioxide emissions by 50% at its production site in Sant’Agata Bolognese, located in northern Italy, and ensure the sustainability of its production supply chains. 

The company plans to achieve environmental efficiency by using battery materials, reducing the need for fossil fuels, and updating the electricity supply network.  Lamborghini is determined to contribute to the global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality and is excited to offer fully electric sports cars. Lamborghini intends to add about 600 new jobs to produce a range of environmentally friendly cars.

The hybrid Revuelto model will be launched in 2024, and the company’s entire range will be hybridized by the end of next year. In the first appearance of the Revuelto model, the CEO confirmed that the electric sports car will use a new body design.

The company plans to fully transition to electricity in the coming years. Lamborghini will introduce the electric Urus by 2029, which will replace the previously launched hybrid models.
